Liverpool is situated in Merseyside, Northwest England, and has a population of just under half a million people. Awarded the European Capital of Culture 2008, the city can be accessed via the M62, M58, M53 and M57 motorways.

As with other major cities, one of Liverpool's largest employers is its University. A little under 5,000 people are employed by Liverpool University which operates a Business Gateway scheme that aims to develop relationships with the business community through consultancy, licencing, research, graduate recruitment and placements. The vibrant student community also stimulates various other industries, especially those in food and drink, hospitality, retail and entertainment.

As mentioned above, in a city that gave the world the Beatles, retail and entertainment are key employment areas. To this effect Liverpool One opened in late 2008 and is a shopping and leisure centre built upon 42 acres of redeveloped land. It contains Debenhams and John Lewis stores in addition to cinemas, residential property and office space. In summary, Liverpool is a key investment opportunity for businesses.

Anfield is home to Liverpool Football Club and has an all-seater capacity of 45,362. The stadium constitutes an impressive visual landmark alongside other key venues and facilities such as the Waterfront and Docks museums, John Lennon Airport, Royal Liver building, Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and Atlantic Tower hotel.

Liverpool is a city very much on the ascendancy as it continues on its course of urban redevelopment.
