Darlington is a town in the county of County Durham and is home to the largest population in the Borough of Darlington. It is a popular town on the East coast of England and is well known for its industrial iron works and railway based industries. The town of Darlington has recently been refurbished and the majority of the town centre has been pedestrianised and this work was nicknamed 'The Pedestrian Heart'.

The A1 used to be Darlington's main motorway running through the town centre, but this has now been diverted to the West of the town. The main route which is now used in and out of Darlington is the A167 motorway which is reached via the North Road. The A66 motorway is also close by and can be accessed via the Darlington Eastern transport Corridor which opened in 2008.

Darlington's town centre is well known as a haven for independent shopping, where you can find unique shops and boutiques rather than big chain stores. The town also has several arts venues, the main one being the Civic Theatre which hosts many different events including musicals and pantomimes. The Civic Theatre is located conveniently in the town centre. Darlington is also home to some great live music venues. The forum is a great place to hear live music with genres including Rock, Indie, Punk and Ska, there is something for everyone.

Darlington are home to Darlington F.C football team, who are currently in League 2. They go by the nickname 'Quakers' and their stadium, The Darlington Arena, can be found next to Darlington's A66 Bypass.
