The city of Coventry is situated in the West Midlands, England, and has a population of approximately 306,000 people. Located just south of the M6 motorway, Coventry is accessible via the A45, A46 and A452 carriageways.

Historically, Coventry's primary manufacturing activity has been that of the motor industry. Major automotive companies such as Triumph Motorcycles, Daimler and Riley can trace their origins back to the city. Today, scarce manufacturing remains in Coventry ? Jaguar have retained two departmental headquarters in the city whilst LTI, which builds London black cabs, is also a major employer in the area.

Coventry has for the most part moved away from manufacturing and headed towards service-based business. This chiefly comprises of the entertainment and leisure industry, finance, research and creative industries. Coventry's two universities, Coventry University and University of Warwick, also serve the business community with conference centres, incubation buildings, a technology park and graduate employment. The universities also offer consultancy and research services to local businesses.

The retail industry is also thriving in Coventry which has three main shopping malls: Lower Precinct Shopping Centre, West Orchards Shopping Centre and Cathedral Lanes Shopping Centre. Major retailers include such as Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Body Shop, Game, Dorothy Perkins, Next and New Look. Furthermore, the food and leisure industries are also well represented in Coventry, which has more than 10 major nightclubs and a number of restaurants, cafes and cinemas.

Coventry is also host to the Belgrade Theatre, Warwick Arts Centre, SkyDome Arena, War Memorial Park and the Ricoh Arena, which is home to Coventry FC and has a capacity of 32,500.
