Bath is a stunning city in Somerset, close to Bristol and about 100 miles west of London. It is famous for its Roman Baths and thermal springs and is a designated World Heritage Site. It has traditionally been known as a market town and has been the birth place of many famous authors. Bath has always been known as a popular tourist destination and remains so today. It was a popular haunt for the rich and famous who enjoyed playing cards and attending horse racing and balls. However, for the many rich inhabitants and visitors there were twice as many poor people.

In the past, Bath had some links to the manufacturing industry, but with its excellent road links with the M4 and M5, it has moved more towards the service industry. Today Bath is known as a university town with industrial links to the motor and pharmaceutical industries. Major employers in the city include the Ministry of Defence, Bath University, BMT Defence Systems and Future Publishing.

Bath is accessed by the M4, M5, A4 and the A36. There are several famous landmarks to visit while you are there, including; the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge that was built for William Pulteney by Robert Adams in 1773. Bath is also home to many museums, including; The Museum of Bath at Work and The Bath Postal Museum. It is also home to many renowned events, such as the world's largest duck race, the Jane Austen Festival and the Bath Literature Festival.
